Community Refrigerator?
The suggestion has been brought up that it might be nice to have a “Members Pantry” sort of arrangement where people who were leaving could put leftover condiments, coffee, supplies, etc. for the use of incoming members instead of just throwing it all away. This would involve putting a refrigerator in the bar, storage, or conference area. Anyone have input on this?

We think it’s a good idea. We almost always have things left over, condiments in particular. Recommend dating items left. 🙂
I have always just left it in the fridge or on the shelf and left it for the maids or the next weeks renters. I always use what I would call good judgement as to what was really usefull and what needed to be thrown away. That fridge of yours could end up with 50 bottles of mustard and 50 catsup!!! Also a new variety of coffee, Island Blend.

I like the idea of a member refrigerator and supply cabinet just for members. We bring a lot of necessities that could be shared. We do leave some things behind for the next guest or help but maybe a better idea is to buy condiments by the box like mustard, ketchup, salt and pepper, coffee filters etc. Everyone buys the same things and leave the same things behind at the end of the week 90% unused.
It’s a good idea that’s worth a try. It might be nice to have a non-refrigerated share also for items such as leftover spices, dry goods, canned goods, etc. We usually have some leftover beer or rum, as well, but have never had a hard time finding takers for these items… 🙂
The concept is good but there needs to be limitations due to sanitary concerns. Items such as dry goods, individually packaged items, paper products that cannot be contaminated would be acceptable. But items such as lunchmeat where someone has been in the package and touched the items with their hands could have a potential to be contaminated.
